Creamy Buttery Puff Pastry Rolls

🧾 Ingredients
For the Pastry:
1 sheet (400 g / 14 oz) puff pastry, thawed
1 egg (for egg wash)
For the Creamy Filling:
1 cup (240 ml) milk
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Make the Cream Filling
In a saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, egg yolk, and salt.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and smooth.
Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla.
Let cool completely (it will thicken more as it cools).
2️⃣ Prepare the Puff Pastry
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
Roll out puff pastry slightly on a floured surface.
Cut into rectangles or squares.
3️⃣ Fill & Roll
Spoon a small amount of cream onto each piece.
Roll or fold into desired shape (rolls, triangles, or envelopes).
Seal edges gently with a fork.
Brush tops with beaten egg.
4️⃣ Bake
Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
Let cool slightly before serving.
