Hamburger Potato Cheese Casserole

Cook time: 60–70 minutes
Ingredients
Ground beef: 1 lb (450 g)
Potatoes: 4–5 medium, peeled and thinly sliced
Onion: 1 medium, diced
Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
Cheddar cheese: 2 cups, shredded
Cream of mushroom soup: 1 can (10.5 oz / 300 g)
Milk: ½ cup
Butter: 2 tbsp
Salt: 1½ tsp
Black pepper: 1 tsp
Paprika: 1 tsp
Dried thyme or Italian seasoning (optional): ½ tsp
Instructions
Preheat oven
Preheat to 180°C / 350°F.
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cook the beef
In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion until fully cooked.
Add garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
Drain excess fat.
Prepare sauce
In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup with milk until smooth.
Assemble casserole
Layer half the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
Spread half the beef mixture over potatoes.
Spoon half the soup mixture evenly on top.
Sprinkle with 1 cup cheese.
Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
Bake
Cover tightly with foil.
Bake 45 minutes.
Finish
Remove foil and bake 15–25 minutes until potatoes are tender and top is bubbly and golden.
Rest & serve
Let casserole rest 10 minutes before serving.
