Buttery Russian Tea Balls Classic Holiday Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla extract.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  3. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Shape and Bake: Roll rounded tablespoons of dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.
  5. Roll in Powdered Sugar: Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet. Roll the warm cookies in powdered sugar. Let cool completely on a wire rack before storing in an airtight container.
