Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For the Filling and Topping:
- 1/2 cup Nutella (or any chocolate hazelnut spread)
- Powdered sugar or cocoa powder for dusting (optional)
- Melted chocolate for drizzling (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and yeast.
- Add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5–7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Donuts:
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down to remove air bubbles.
- Roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Use a round cutter (or a glass) to cut out donut shapes. Re-roll scraps as needed.
- Cook the Donuts:
- Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat. The oil should be around 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the donuts in batches, cooking each side for 1–2 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Fill the Donuts:
- Once cooled slightly, use a piping bag fitted with a small tip to inject Nutella into the center of each donut. If you don’t have a piping bag, use a small knife to make a slit and spoon Nutella inside.
- Decorate (Optional):
- Dust the donuts with powdered sugar or cocoa powder, or drizzle with melted chocolate for a fancy touch.
- Serve:
- Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy these gooey, Nutella-filled delights!
