Crockpot Beef Stew (Tender & Hearty)
Slow-cooked comfort food with melt-in-your-mouth beef and rich gravy — perfect for cozy days.
🧾 Ingredients
2½–3 lbs (1.1–1.4 kg) beef chuck, cut into 1½-inch cubes
3 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
3 tablespoons olive oil
4 cups beef broth
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 large onion, chopped
4 carrots, sliced
3–4 potatoes, cubed
2 celery stalks, sliced
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 bay leaf
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Coat the Beef
In a bowl, toss beef cubes with flour, salt, pepper, and paprika.
2️⃣ Sear for Flavor (Recommended)
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Brown beef on all sides (about 4–5 minutes).
Transfer to crockpot.
(You can skip this step if in a rush, but browning adds deeper flavor.)
3️⃣ Add Everything to the Crockpot
Add beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion, carrots, potatoes, celery, thyme, and bay leaf.
Stir gently.
4️⃣ Slow Cook
Low: 8–9 hours
High: 4–5 hours
Beef should be very tender and vegetables soft.
5️⃣ Adjust Thickness
If you want thicker stew:
Mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons cold water and stir in during the last 30 minutes.
Remove bay leaf before serving.
