Classic Hamburger Hash
A simple, hearty one-pan comfort meal made with ground beef, potatoes, and onions — budget-friendly and full of flavor!
🧾 Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
3 medium russet potatoes, diced small
1 small onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, diced (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
2 tablespoons oil or butter
½ cup beef broth (optional, for softer texture)
Optional add-ins:
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 eggs (for topping)
Hot sauce
👩‍🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Cook the Potatoes
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add diced potatoes.
Cook 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender.
Remove and set aside.
2️⃣ Brown the Beef
In the same skillet, add remaining oil if needed.
Cook ground beef until browned, breaking it apart.
Drain excess grease if necessary.
3️⃣ Add Vegetables & Seasoning
Stir in onion, bell pepper, and garlic.
Cook 3–4 minutes until softened.
Add salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
4️⃣ Combine
Return potatoes to skillet.
Stir everything together.
Add beef broth if you want it slightly softer and simmer 3–5 minutes.
Cook until crispy on the bottom if you like extra texture.
🍳 Optional: Add Eggs
Make small wells in the hash.
Crack eggs into the wells.
Cover and cook until eggs reach your preferred doneness.
🧀 Optional: Cheesy Version
Sprinkle shredded cheddar over the top.
Cover until melted.
