Ground Beef and Gravy (Easy Comfort Meal)
Rich, savory, and ready in about 30 minutes — perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles!
🛒 Ingredients
1 lb (450g) ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp butter (optional, for richer flavor)
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp onion powder (optional)
1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
👩‍🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Brown the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is fully browned.
Drain excess grease if needed.
2️⃣ Add Garlic
Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
3️⃣ Make the Roux
Add butter (if using).
Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir well.
Cook 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
4️⃣ Add Liquids
Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
5️⃣ Simmer
Let simmer 5–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until gravy thickens.
6️⃣ Serve Hot
Spoon over:
Creamy mashed potatoes 🥔
Steamed white rice 🍚
Egg noodles
Toast or biscuits
