Slow Cooker Marsala Style Chicken
Tender chicken simmered in a rich mushroom and Marsala wine sauce — elegant flavor with easy slow cooker prep.
🛒 Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup Marsala wine (dry)
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tbsp olive oil or butter
1 tsp dried thyme (optional)
Salt & black pepper to taste
2 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
👩‍🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Optional: Sear for Extra Flavor
Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Season chicken with salt and pepper.
Sear 2–3 minutes per side until lightly golden (not fully cooked).
Transfer to slow cooker.
(You can skip this step if short on time, but searing adds deeper flavor.)
2️⃣ Add Ingredients to Slow Cooker
Add sliced mushrooms and garlic over the chicken.
Pour in Marsala wine and chicken broth.
Sprinkle thyme if using.
3️⃣ Cook
LOW: 5–6 hours
or
HIGH: 3–4 hours
Chicken should reach 165°F (74°C) internally.
4️⃣ Finish the Sauce
About 20–30 minutes before serving:
Stir in heavy cream.
If you want a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water and stir into slow cooker.
Cook until sauce thickens.
5️⃣ Serve
Spoon creamy mushroom sauce over chicken.
Garnish with parsley.
