👩‍🍳 Instructions

  • Activate the yeast
In a small bowl combine the warm milk, sugar, and dry yeast.
Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Prepare the dough
    In a large bowl mix:
    Flour
    Salt
    Egg
Add the yeast mixture and mix until a dough begins to form.
  • Add butter
Add the softened butter and knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • First rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Shape the bombs
Punch down the dough and divide it into 10–12 small balls.
Flatten each ball slightly and place 1 teaspoon strawberry jam in the center.
Seal the dough tightly around the filling and roll into a smooth ball.
  • Second rise
Place the filled dough balls on a tray, cover, and let them rise for 20–30 minutes.
  • Fry
Heat oil in a deep pan to 170–180°C (340–350°F).
Fry the dough balls for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Coat
Remove from oil and place on paper towels.
While still warm, roll them in sugar or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
