🍇 Old-Fashioned Blackberry Cobbler
🧾 Ingredients
4 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
1 cup sugar (plus 2 tbsp for topping)
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
👩🍳 Instructions
Preheat oven
Set to 180°C (350°F).
Pour melted butter into a baking dish (about 9×9 inch).
Prepare the berries
In a bowl, mix blackberries with sugar and lemon juice.
Let sit for 10 minutes to release juices.
Make the batter
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar.
Stir in milk until smooth (batter will be pourable).
Assemble (don’t stir!)
Pour batter evenly over the melted butter.
Spoon the blackberry mixture over the batter.
Do not mix—this creates the cobbler layers.
Top it off
Sprinkle the extra 2 tbsp sugar on top for a crisp finish.
Bake
Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
Cool & serve
Let it cool slightly before serving.
Best served warm!
