🍝 Classic Lasagna
Ingredients:
For the meat sauce:
1 lb (450g) ground beef (or half beef, half sausage)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 oz / 800g) crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp sugar (balances acidity)
For the cheese layer:
1½ cups ricotta cheese
1 egg
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella
2 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)
Other:
9–12 lasagna noodles (cooked if not oven-ready)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)
Instructions:
- Make the meat sauce
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
Cook onion for 3–4 minutes, then add garlic.
Add ground beef and cook until browned.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and all seasonings.
Simmer for 15–20 minutes until thickened. - Prepare cheese mixture
In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, Parmesan, mozzarella, and parsley. - Assemble the lasagna
In a baking dish, layer as follows:
Thin layer of meat sauce
Lasagna noodles
Cheese mixture
Meat sauce
Repeat layers 2–3 times.
Finish with meat sauce and top with mozzarella cheese. - Bake
Cover with foil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30 minutes.
Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden. - Rest
Let it sit for 10–15 minutes before cutting (this helps it hold shape).
