Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pinwheels
🧾 Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry (about 250 g), thawed
150 g ham (about 6 slices), thinly sliced
1 cup (100 g) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
2 tbsp Dijon or yellow mustard (optional)
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tsp dried herbs (oregano or Italian seasoning, optional)
1 tbsp sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
👨🍳 Instructions
- Preheat oven
Set to 200°C (400°F)
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper - Prepare the pastry
Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle - Add filling
Spread a thin layer of mustard (if using)
Layer ham evenly over the pastry
Sprinkle shredded cheese on top
Add herbs if desired - Roll & slice
Roll the pastry tightly into a log (like a jelly roll)
Slice into 1–2 cm thick rounds - Arrange & brush
Place pinwheels flat on baking sheet
Brush tops with beaten egg
Sprinkle seeds if using - Bake
Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden, puffed, and crispy - Serve
Let cool slightly and serve warm
🌟 Tips
Chill the rolled log for 10 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts
Add a thin layer of cream cheese for extra richness
Try turkey or chicken instead of ham
