Hot Sausage Beer Cheese Dip
🧾 Ingredients
1 lb (450 g) ground sausage (mild or spicy)
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup beer (lager or ale works best)
1 cup milk
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
½ cup cream cheese, softened
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
Salt & black pepper, to taste
1–2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
👨‍🍳 Instructions
Cook the sausage
In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned and fully cooked.
Drain excess grease and set aside.
Make the roux
In the same pan, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
Add liquids
Slowly whisk in beer, then milk. Stir continuously until smooth and slightly thickened.
Melt the cheese
Lower heat and add cream cheese first, stirring until smooth.
Then add shredded cheddar gradually, stirring until fully melted.
Season
Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Combine
Stir cooked sausage back into the cheese sauce. Heat until everything is hot and creamy.
Serve
Transfer to a serving bowl or keep warm in a slow cooker.
