Savory Mushroom Beef Casserole
🧾 Ingredients
1 lb (450 g) ground beef
1 lb (450 g) sliced mushrooms
2 tbsp unsalted butter
6 oz (170 g) cream cheese, softened
½ cup sour cream
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp paprika
Salt & black pepper, to taste
1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
½ cup beef broth
2 cups cooked egg noodles (or rice)
👨🍳 Instructions
Preheat oven
Set to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease a casserole dish.
Cook the beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned.
Drain excess fat and set aside.
Sauté mushrooms
In the same skillet, melt butter. Add mushrooms and cook until softened and browned (about 6–8 minutes).
Add aromatics
Stir in onion and cook until translucent. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Make it creamy
Reduce heat to low. Add cream cheese and stir until melted.
Mix in sour cream, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Combine everything
Return cooked beef to the skillet. Add cooked noodles (or rice) and mix until well coated.
Assemble casserole
Transfer mixture to the baking dish and spread evenly.
Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
Bake
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until hot and bubbly with melted cheese.
Rest & serve
Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
