Easy Amish Meatloaf
🧾 Ingredients
Meatloaf:
500 g (1 lb) ground beef
1 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
1 egg
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Glaze:
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon mustard
👩🍳 Instructions
Preheat oven
Set to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a loaf pan or baking dish.
Mix the meatloaf
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Mix gently until just combined (don’t overmix).
Shape
Form into a loaf shape and place in the pan.
Make the glaze
In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard.
Add glaze
Spread half of the glaze over the meatloaf.
Bake
Bake for 45 minutes, then remove and spread remaining glaze on top.
Return to oven and bake another 15–20 minutes, until fully cooked.
Rest & serve
Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
💡 Tips
Add a little diced bell pepper for extra flavor
Use a mix of beef and pork for a juicier loaf
Don’t skip the resting time—it keeps it from falling apart
