Easy Homemade White Bread
🧾 Ingredients:
4 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
2 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk (not hot)
1/2 cup (120 ml) warm water
2 tbsp butter (softened) or oil
👩🍳 Instructions:
- Activate the yeast
In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast
Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy - Make the dough
Add warm milk, butter, and salt
Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms - Knead
Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes
Dough should become smooth and elastic - First rise
Place dough in a greased bowl
Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, until doubled - Shape
Punch down dough and shape into a loaf
Place into a greased loaf pan - Second rise
Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes - Bake
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F)
Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown - Finish
Brush top with butter (optional)
Let cool before slicing

💡 Tips:
Don’t use hot liquid—it can kill the yeast
If dough is sticky, add a little flour (but not too much)
For extra softness, replace water with all milk
