Cheesy Baked Egg Toast
🛒 Ingredients (Serves 1–2)
1 large thick slice of bread (Texas toast or sourdough works best)
1 large egg
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon butter (softened)
Salt and black pepper (to taste)
¼ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or chives (optional)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2️⃣ Prepare the Bread
Lightly butter both sides of the bread slice.
Place it on the baking sheet.
Using the back of a spoon, gently press down the center of the bread to create a shallow well (don’t press all the way through).
3️⃣ Add Cheese & Egg
Sprinkle most of the mozzarella into the pressed center, forming a little nest.
Carefully crack the egg into the center.
Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Top with the remaining cheese around the edges (not fully covering the yolk unless you prefer it set).
4️⃣ Bake
Bake for 10–15 minutes, depending on how runny you like your yolk:
10–12 minutes → soft/runny yolk
13–15 minutes → firmer yolk
Keep an eye on it so the bread doesn’t over-brown.
5️⃣ Garnish & Serve
Remove from oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley or chives, and serve immediately.
