Seven Layer Taco Salad
🧾 Ingredients:
1 lb (450 g) ground beef, cooked
1 packet taco seasoning
1 head lettuce, chopped
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 cup diced tomatoes
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup sour cream
½ cup salsa or taco sauce
👩‍🍳 Instructions:
Cook and season the beef
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
Drain excess fat, then stir in taco seasoning with a little water (according to packet instructions). Simmer for 2–3 minutes. Let cool slightly.
Prepare the base layer
In a large glass dish or bowl, spread the chopped lettuce evenly on the bottom.
Layer the ingredients
Build your layers in this order:
Seasoned ground beef
Black beans
Diced tomatoes
Make the creamy layer
In a small bowl, mix sour cream with salsa or taco sauce until smooth.
Add the creamy topping
Spread the sour cream mixture evenly over the salad.
Finish with cheese
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Chill (optional but recommended)
Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.
🌮 Optional Add-Ons:
Sliced black olives
Diced avocado or guacamole
Crushed tortilla chips or Doritos (add just before serving for crunch)
Jalapeños for heat
Green onions or cilantro for freshness
💡 Tips:
Serve in a clear dish to show off those beautiful layers.
For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
You can double the recipe easily for parties or potlucks.
