Puff Pastry Sausage & Cheese Appetizer
🛒 Ingredients
1 package puff pastry (about 500 g), thawed
150 g sausage (or ham / hot dogs), finely chopped
150 g shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or mixed)
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 teaspoon mustard (optional)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prep
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2️⃣ Prepare the Filling
If using raw sausage, cook it first in a pan until fully done. Let cool.
Mix cooked sausage with shredded cheese, pepper, and oregano.
(If using ham or hot dogs, no need to cook.)
3️⃣ Assemble
Roll out puff pastry slightly.
Spread a thin layer of mustard (optional).
Sprinkle sausage and cheese mixture evenly over pastry.
Roll tightly into a log (like a jelly roll).
4️⃣ Slice
Cut into 2–3 cm slices (pinwheels).
Place on baking sheet.
Brush tops with beaten egg.
5️⃣ Bake
Bake 15–20 minutes until golden and puffed.
