Slow Cooker Cabbage & Noodles
A cozy, budget-friendly comfort dish with tender cabbage, buttery noodles, and simple savory flavor — perfect for an easy family meal.
🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
1 small head green cabbage, chopped
1 medium onion, sliced
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
12 oz (340 g) egg noodles
1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
1 cup cooked ham or smoked sausage (optional)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Base
Add chopped cabbage and sliced onion to the slow cooker.
Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Dot with butter and drizzle olive oil over the top.
2️⃣ Add Broth
Pour chicken broth over everything.
Cover and cook on:
LOW for 4–5 hours
HIGH for 2–3 hours
Until cabbage is soft and tender.
3️⃣ Add Noodles
About 30–40 minutes before serving, stir in egg noodles.
If needed, add ½–1 cup extra broth or water.
Cover and cook until noodles are tender.
4️⃣ Finish
Stir well and adjust seasoning.
Add cooked ham or sausage if using.
Let sit 5–10 minutes before serving to thicken slightly.
