Creamy Buttery Mashed Potatoes
🛒 Ingredients
1 kg (2.2 lbs) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
100 g (7 tablespoons) unsalted butter
1/2 to 3/4 cup (120–180 ml) warm milk or heavy cream
1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Optional: 2 cloves garlic
👩‍🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Potatoes
Peel and cut potatoes into equal chunks.
Rinse in cold water.
2️⃣ Boil
Place in a large pot and cover with cold salted water.
Bring to a boil and cook 15–20 minutes until fork tender.
Drain well.
3️⃣ Mash
While still hot, mash using a potato masher or ricer.
Avoid overmixing (it can become gluey).
4️⃣ Add Butter & Milk
Add butter first and mix until melted.
Gradually pour in warm milk or cream.
Season with salt and pepper.
Adjust milk for desired creaminess.
5️⃣ Finish Like the Photo
Spoon into serving dish.
Create swirls with the back of a spoon.
Melt extra butter and pour into the swirls.
Sprinkle black pepper on top.
🧄 Optional Garlic Version
Boil potatoes with 2 smashed garlic cloves for extra flavor.
