Homemade Garlic Cheese Breadsticks
Soft, fluffy inside… golden, buttery, and cheesy on top. Perfect for dipping in marinara or serving with pasta!
🛒 Ingredients (Makes 12 breadsticks)
🍞 Dough
2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
1 tbsp sugar
2½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil
🧄 Garlic Butter Topping
3 tbsp melted butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ tsp Italian seasoning
¼ tsp salt
🧀 Cheese
1½ cups shredded mozzarella
¼ cup grated Parmesan
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Activate the Yeast
In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast.
Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2️⃣ Make the Dough
Add flour, salt, and olive oil.
Mix until dough forms.
Knead on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.
3️⃣ Shape the Breadsticks
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
Roll dough into a rectangle (about 9×13 inches) on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
4️⃣ Add Garlic Butter
Mix melted butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt.
Brush generously over dough.
5️⃣ Add Cheese
Sprinkle mozzarella evenly, then Parmesan on top.
6️⃣ Bake
Bake 12–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
For extra browning, broil 1–2 minutes at the end (watch carefully).
7️⃣ Slice & Serve
Let cool slightly.
Cut into strips and garnish with parsley.
