Golden Crumble Custard Delight
🛒 Ingredients:
For the custard:
2 cups milk
½ cup heavy cream (optional for extra richness)
½ cup sugar
3 egg yolks
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
For the golden crumble:
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup cold butter (cubed)
½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
👩🍳 Instructions:
- Make the custard:
In a saucepan, heat milk and cream over medium heat until warm (not boiling).
In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until smooth.
Slowly pour warm milk into the egg mixture while whisking (to temper).
Return mixture to the pan and cook on low heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and set aside. - Prepare the crumble:
In a bowl, mix flour and sugar.
Add cold butter and rub it in with your fingers until crumbly.
Stir in cinnamon if using. - Assemble:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Pour custard into a greased baking dish.
Sprinkle crumble mixture evenly over the top. - Bake:
Bake for 25–30 minutes until the top is golden brown and crisp. - Cool & serve:
Let it cool slightly before serving.
Enjoy warm or chilled!
