Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient Ham Hocks & Pinto Beans
🛒 Ingredients
2 cups dried pinto beans (rinsed, sorted)
2–3 ham hocks
1 medium onion, chopped
6 cups water (or low-sodium broth for extra flavor)
👩🍳 Instructions
Prep the beans
Rinse and sort the pinto beans to remove any debris. (Optional: soak overnight for softer texture and faster cooking.)
Add to slow cooker
Place beans, ham hocks, and chopped onion into the slow cooker.
Pour liquid
Add the water or broth. Make sure everything is covered by about 2–3 cm (1 inch).
Cook
Low: 8–10 hours
High: 5–6 hours
Beans should be tender and the meat falling off the bone.
Finish & serve
Remove ham hocks, shred the meat, discard bones and excess fat, then return meat to the pot. Stir and serve warm.
