Flaky Breakfast Bread 🍞✨
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons instant yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm milk
1/4 cup melted butter
1 large egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
For Brushing
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
Activate the yeast
In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Prepare the dough
Add the egg, melted butter, oil, salt, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough
Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the bread
Divide the dough into small balls or flatten slightly to create layers. Place them in a greased baking dish or loaf pan.
Second rise
Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
Brush and bake
Brush the top with egg wash and a little melted butter.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
Finish
Brush the hot bread with melted butter for extra softness and shine.
Tips
Add cheese, herbs, or garlic for a savory version.
For a sweeter breakfast bread, sprinkle sugar or drizzle honey on top.
Best served warm with butter, jam, or honey.
