Tender Air Fryer Chuck Roast

Chuck roast is usually slow-cooked, but with the right method, the air fryer can give you a beautifully seared outside and tender inside—perfect for a quicker comfort meal.
🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
2–3 lb (1–1.5 kg) chuck roast
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter (optional, for extra richness)
Seasoning:
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
Optional:
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup beef broth (for extra moisture when resting)
👩🍳 Instructions
- Prep the roast
Pat the chuck roast dry with paper towels
Rub with olive oil
Mix all seasonings and coat the roast evenly - Preheat air fryer
Preheat to 200°C (400°F) for 5 minutes - Sear the outside
Place roast in the air fryer
Cook at 200°C (400°F) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway
👉 This creates a nice crust - Cook low & slow
Reduce heat to 160°C (320°F)
Cook for 35–50 minutes, flipping once
Check internal temp:
60°C (140°F) = medium
70°C (160°F+) = more tender, well-done - Rest (IMPORTANT)
Remove roast and place on a plate
Add butter on top (optional)
Cover loosely with foil
Let rest 10–15 minutes
👉 You can pour a little warm beef broth over it while resting for extra juiciness
