Ground Beef Stroganoff
🧾 Ingredients
500 g ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
200 g mushrooms, sliced
2 tbsp butter or oil
2 tbsp flour
2 cups (480 ml) beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste
1/2 cup (120 ml) sour cream
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional, but recommended)
Fresh parsley (for garnish)
For serving:
Egg noodles, pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes
👨🍳 Instructions
- Cook the beef
Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
Add ground beef and cook until browned.
Drain excess fat if needed and set aside. - Sauté vegetables
In the same pan, add butter.
Cook onion for 2–3 minutes until soft.
Add garlic and mushrooms, cook until mushrooms are tender. - Make the sauce
Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir for 1 minute.
Gradually add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps.
Add Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened. - Combine
Return cooked beef to the pan.
Stir and let everything simmer together for a few minutes. - Finish creamy
Lower heat and stir in sour cream and Dijon mustard.
Mix gently—do not boil after adding sour cream. - Serve
Serve hot over noodles or rice.
Garnish with fresh parsley.
💡 Tips
Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter option.
Add a splash of cream for extra richness.
Don’t overcook after adding sour cream—it can curdle.
