cheesy Garlic Potato Cakes recipe
🧾 Ingredients (makes 8–10 cakes)
3 cups mashed potatoes (cooled)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp green onions or chives, chopped
1 egg
½ cup all-purpose flour (or breadcrumbs)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
½ tsp paprika (optional)
2–3 tbsp oil or butter (for frying)

- Prepare the mixture
In a large bowl, combine:
Mashed potatoes
Cheddar cheese
Garlic
Green onions
Egg
Flour or breadcrumbs
Salt, pepper, and paprika
Mix until everything is well combined and holds together. - Shape the cakes
Scoop about 2–3 tablespoons of the mixture
Form into small patties (about 1–2 cm thick) - Cook
Heat oil or butter in a pan over medium heat
Fry the potato cakes for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy - Drain & serve
Place on paper towels to remove excess oil
