Ginger, Onion, Garlic, Lemon & Honey Natural Syrup
This traditional homemade syrup combines ginger, onion, garlic, lemon, and honey into a soothing natural remedy often used for coughs, sore throats, and seasonal congestion.
Ingredients
1 medium onion, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium fresh ginger root (about 2 inches), grated
1 lemon, juiced
1 cup raw honey
Optional Additions
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
Pinch of black pepper
Cinnamon stick
A few cloves
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
Peel and finely chop the onion.
Mince the garlic.
Peel and grate the fresh ginger.
Juice the lemon.
Step 2: Combine
Place onion, garlic, and ginger into a clean glass jar or bowl.
Pour in lemon juice.
Add honey and stir well until everything is coated.
Step 3: Rest
Cover and let sit for at least 4–6 hours, or overnight in the refrigerator.
The ingredients will release juices and form a syrup.
Step 4: Strain (Optional)
Strain through a fine sieve for a smoother syrup, or leave chunky if preferred.
How to Use
Adults: 1 tablespoon as needed
Children over 1 year old: 1 teaspoon as needed
Do not give honey to children under 1 year old.
Storage
Store in a sealed jar in the refrigerator.
Best used within 5–7 days.
Tips
Use raw honey for a richer flavor and texture.
Fresh ginger gives the strongest taste and aroma.
Add warm water to a spoonful for a soothing drink.
