Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry (about 250 g), thawed
150 g (5 oz) ham, thinly sliced or diced
150 g (5 oz) cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Gruyère), grated
1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Optional Additions
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Chopped parsley or chives
Black pepper
Sesame or poppy seeds for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
Line a baking tray with parchment paper. - Roll and Cut the Pastry
Lightly flour your surface and roll out the puff pastry slightly.
Cut into 4–6 equal rectangles or squares. - Add the Filling
Place ham and grated cheese on one half of each pastry piece, leaving a small border around the edges.
Add mustard or herbs if using. - Seal the Pockets
Fold the pastry over the filling to form pockets.
Press the edges together with a fork to seal. - Egg Wash
Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. - Bake
Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. - Serve
Let cool slightly before serving.
