Homemade Doughnuts 😊😍
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter (softened)
7 g baker’s yeast (1 packet active dry yeast)
5 tablespoons sugar
1 cup warm milk
1 egg
½ teaspoon salt
Oil for frying
Optional Toppings
Powdered sugar
Cinnamon sugar
Chocolate glaze
Jam or cream filling
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, mix the warm milk with 1 tablespoon of sugar and the yeast.
Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. - Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine:
Flour
Remaining sugar
Salt
Add:
Egg
Butter
Yeast mixture
Mix until a soft dough forms. - Knead
Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
If sticky, add a little flour. - First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1½ hours or until doubled in size. - Shape the Doughnuts
Roll out the dough to about ½-inch thickness.
Cut into doughnut shapes using a cutter or glass.
Place on a tray and cover lightly. - Second Rise
Let the shaped doughnuts rest for 30–40 minutes until puffy. - Fry
Heat oil over medium heat.
Fry doughnuts for about 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
Remove and place on paper towels. - Decorate
While warm:
Dust with powdered sugar
Roll in cinnamon sugar
Or dip in glaze/chocolate
Simple Glaze (Optional)
Mix:
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tablespoons milk
½ teaspoon vanilla
Dip warm doughnuts into the glaze and let set.
Tips for Perfect Doughnuts
Milk should be warm, not hot.
Don’t overcrowd the pan while frying.
Fry on medium heat so the inside cooks properly.
Best enjoyed fresh and warm.
