Homemade Lemon Powder
📝 Ingredients
4–6 fresh lemons (preferably organic, since we’re using the peel)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Wash & Prep
Wash lemons very well under warm water.
Scrub the peel to remove any wax or residue.
Pat completely dry.
2️⃣ Peel the Zest
Use a vegetable peeler or zester.
Remove only the yellow outer layer (avoid the white pith — it’s bitter).
3️⃣ Dry the Peels
Option 1: Oven Method
Preheat oven to 170–200°F (75–90°C).
Spread peels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Dry for 1–2 hours until completely crisp (not browned).
Option 2: Air-Dry
Spread on a tray in a dry place for 2–3 days until fully dried.
Option 3: Dehydrator
Dry at 115°F (46°C) for 4–6 hours.
Peels must be fully dry and brittle.
4️⃣ Grind
Add dried peels to a blender, spice grinder, or coffee grinder.
Blend into a fine powder.
5️⃣ Store
Store in an airtight jar in a cool, dry place.
Keeps fresh for up to 6 months.
