Crispy Fried Okra Bites
Ingredients
2 cups fresh okra, sliced into bite-size pieces
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Oil for frying
Instructions
Wash and dry the okra, then cut into bite-size pieces.
Place the okra in buttermilk and let it soak for 10 minutes.
In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Remove the okra from the buttermilk and coat each piece well in the cornmeal mixture.
Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the okra in batches for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
