Crockpot Chicken and Dumplings
Creamy, cozy, and packed with tender chicken and fluffy dumplings — pure comfort in a bowl.
🛒 Ingredients
For the Chicken Base:
1½–2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
1 small onion, diced
2 carrots, sliced
2 celery stalks, chopped
3 cups chicken broth
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup milk (optional, for extra creaminess)
For the Dumplings:
1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8-count), cut into quarters
or
2 cups homemade biscuit dough pieces
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Add to Crockpot
Place chicken, onion, carrots, celery, broth, cream of chicken soup, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper into the slow cooker.
Stir lightly to combine.
2️⃣ Cook
Cook on LOW for 6–7 hours
or
HIGH for 3–4 hours, until chicken is tender.
3️⃣ Shred the Chicken
Remove chicken and shred with two forks.
Return shredded chicken to the crockpot.
Stir in milk if using.
4️⃣ Add Dumplings
Place biscuit pieces on top of the hot mixture.
Cover and cook on HIGH for 1½–2 hours (do not lift the lid while dumplings cook).
Dumplings should be fluffy and cooked through.
🍽️ Serve Hot
Spoon into bowls and sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired.
